(English below) Il weekend scorso tre studenti di dottorato presso il Dipartimento di Fisica – Francesco Ghisoni, Davide Cugini e Francesco Scala – insieme a Chiara Ballotta, studentessa magistrale presso L’Università Tecnica di Monaco (TMU), hanno partecipato e vinto il primo posto ad un Hackathon sulla Computazione Quantistica organizzato dalla Quantum Engineering Commission dell’ETH di Zurigo.
La competizione ha coinvolto 100 studenti da oltre 25 università che, in gruppi da 4, avevano 24 ore per completare un progetto legato al mondo della computazione quantistica.
Il gruppo degli studenti pavesi ha vinto con un progetto sull’applicazione di simmetrie al Machine Learning Quantistico.
L’evento è stato sponsorizzato da azienda fortemente coinvolte nel mondo della computazione quantistica come IQM, Moody’s Analytics, Qilimanjaro e Google Quantum AI, e il premio li ha visti vincere biglietti per la prestigiosa conferenza Superconducting Qubits and Algorithms (SQA) tenuta a Monaco a fine Agosto.

Last weekend, three PhD students at the Department of Physics – Francesco Ghisoni, Davide Cugini and Francesco Scala – together with Chiara Ballotta, master student at the Technical University of Munich(TMU), participated in and won first place at a Hackathon on Quantum Computing organized by the Quantum Engineering Commission of ETH Zurich.
The competition involved 100 students and from over 25 universities who, in groups of 4, had 24 hours to complete a project related to the world of quantum computing.
The Pavia students won with a project on the application of symmetries to Quantum Machine Learning.
The event was sponsored by companies heavily involved in the field of quantum computing such as IQM, Moody’s Analytics, Qilimanjaro and Google Quantum AI, and the prize rewarded them with tickets to the prestigious Superconducting Qubits and Algorithms(SQA) conference held in Munich at the end of August.
