(English below) La Winter School, organizzata dal Dipartimento di Scienze Economiche e Aziendali dell’Università di Pavia, tratta tematiche relative all’applicazione dell’Intelligenza Artificiale in sanità. La Winter School, aperta agli studenti di 1° ciclo, agli studenti di 2° ciclo e ai Dottorandi con diversi background e interessati all’argomento, si terrà dal 12 al 16 dicembre 2022 e garantirà il riconoscimento di 3 crediti ECTS/CFU aggiuntivi.
L’obiettivo della Winter School è fornire conoscenze preliminari sull’utilizzo dell’IA in ambito sanitario. Mentre i programmi esistenti sono concentrati principalmente in modo univoco o sull’Intelligenza Artificiale o sull’assistenza sanitaria, questa Winter School ha lo scopo di fornire congiuntamente conoscenze in questi due campi in forte sviluppo. Più specificamente, consente ai partecipanti di apprendere le opportunità derivanti dalle applicazioni dell’IA in sanità e di analizzare opportunità e rischi associati a tale uso. Inoltre, i partecipanti avranno l’opportunità di approfondire anche le loro conoscenze sulle implicazioni etiche dell’uso dell’IA e di altre tecnologie digitali, considerando le conseguenze individuali e sociali e favorendo il processo decisionale.
La Winter School sarà organizzata con una serie di lezioni e workshop tenuti da speaker provenienti da diverse università, dipartimenti e paesi. Questa eterogeneità consentirà il raggiungimento di una più ampia rappresentazione e comprensione degli argomenti, nonché il confronto e l’integrazione di prospettive diverse. Le attività si svolgeranno in lingua inglese. I temi trattati saranno vari, tra cui:
- management sanitario;
- data mining;
- etica nell’utilizzo di IA;
- Technology Enhanced Learning.
La Winter School prevede una quota di iscrizione di € 150 per partecipante.
Il Collegio dei Docenti mette a disposizione dei primi 20 iscritti 20 borse di studio, a copertura totale della quota di iscrizione.

From December 12th to December 16th 2022 – Winter School “Discovering the unknown: AI in healthcare, II Edition”
The Winter School, organized by the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Pavia, will deal with topics related to the application of AI in healthcare.
The Winter School, open to Bachelor Degree, Master Degree and PhD students with different backgrounds and interested in the topic, will be held from the 12th to the 16th of December 2022 and will guarantee 3 additional ECTS/CFU credits.
The aim of the Winter School is to provide preliminary knowledge about AI use in healthcare, to support the training of people able to advance the deployment of AI throughout the economy. While extant programs mainly focused either on AI or on healthcare, this Winter School is intended to jointly provide knowledge in these two highly developing fields. More specifically, it would allow participants to learn the opportunities deriving from the applications of AI in healthcare and to analyze opportunities and risks associated with the use of AI in healthcare. Moreover, participants will also deepen their knowledge on the ethical implications of the use of AI and other digital technologies, encompassing the individual and social consequences, fostering decision making. Consequently, it is expected to stimulate participants’ capabilities in making judgments in real life and a new management mindset, eventually promoting skill advancement and careers.
The winter school will be organized with a series of lectures and workshops held by professors coming from different Universities, departments and countries. This heterogeneity allows the achievement of a wider representation and understanding of the topics, as well as comparisons and integration of different perspectives. Activities will be held in English, in order to allow international participation. Relevant competences around the use of AI and its application in the context of healthcare management will be provided by different speakers, especially in the following areas:
- healthcare management;
- data mining;
- ethics in AI;
- Technology Enhanced Learning.
The Winter School has an enrollment fee of €150 per participant.
The School Committee offers 20 scholarships, fully covering the enrollment fee, to the first 20 enrolled participants.
