L’emergere e il ri-emergere di virus è uno dei principali fattori che ha causato le ultime epidemie, come dimostrano i recenti focolai che hanno colpito l’uomo, tra i quali ovviamente il Covid-19. L’Institut Pasteur organizza un MOOC dal mese di settembre 2021, incentrato sul tema, per fornire la conoscenza necessaria riguardo i diversi virus coinvolti nelle principali emergenze virali. La Prof.ssa Anna Malacrida dell’Università di Pavia è presidente della commissione di selezione dei MOOC.
Il MOOC descriverà inoltre i meccanismi e le condizioni che guidano le emergenze, le mutazioni dovute al cambio climatico, l’impatto dell’urbanizzazione e del cambiamento nei comportamenti umani.
Si focalizzerà inoltre su misure mediche e scientifiche per prevenire e contrattaccare l’emergere o il ri-emergere dei virus e illustrerà la risposta di governi e agenzie, come il World Health Organization (WHO), per controllare la diffusione mondiale di tali emergenze.
Infine, è importante sottolineare che questo MOOC illustrerà le ultime conoscenze riguardo l’attuale pandemia di SARS-CoV-2-Covid-19 e presenterà dati in ambito di virologia, epidemiologia e vaccinologia.

The emergence and re-emergence of viruses is one of the main factors that caused the latest epidemics, as evidenced by the recent outbreaks that have affected humans, including obviously Covid-19.
The Institut Pasteur is organizing a MOOC starting from September 2021, focused on the topic, to provide the necessary knowledge about the different viruses involved in the main viral emergencies.
Prof. Anna Malacrida of the University of Pavia is president of the MOOC selection commission.
The MOOC will also describe the mechanisms and conditions that drive emergencies, the mutations due to climate change, the impact of urbanization and change in human behavior.
It will also focus on medical and scientific measures to prevent and counteract the emergence or re-emergence of viruses and will illustrate the response of governments and agencies, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), to control the worldwide spread of such emergencies.
Finally, it is important to underline that this MOOC will illustrate the latest knowledge regarding the current SARS-CoV-2-Covid-19 pandemic and will present data in the fields of virology, epidemiology and vaccinology.
