(English below – EC2U Forum Pavia – The voice of the Students on the event) Da alcuni giorni si è concluso il 4°Forum dell’European Alliance for City-Universities (EC2U) ospitato dall’Università degli studi di Pavia, al quale hanno partecipato realtà eterogenee tra loro che hanno contribuito a rafforzare i legami all’interno della comunità EC2U e rendere stimolanti le varie attività organizzate focalizzate sui seguenti temi: sostenibilità, salute e benessere, multilinguismo, educazione digitale, microcredentials, ricerca e innovazione.
L’evento ha coinvolto la governance dell’alleanza EC2U, professori, personale amministrativo e studenti, partner associati del progetto delle sette Università (in particolare, STEP ESN Pavia, Polo Tecnologico, Comune di Pavia, CUS, CIMEA) e associazioni locali pavesi attive sul territorio (in particolare Plastic Free, UILDM, Coming Aut Community Centre, CSV, Pavia Asti Senegal, OSA, Ayamè, Banca del tempo, Bridgenet/Universitiamo). 
In sede d’apertura del forum, l’Aula Magna si è colorata di emozioni con il contributo del presidente del Parlamento ucraino Ruslan Stefancuk, intervenuto in video-conferenza per sancire l’ingresso nella alleanza delle sette Università europee della storica Università ucraina Ivan Franko di Leopoli. Un invito non solo simbolico da parte delle Università alleate per l’internazionalizzazione, perché la storia e l’importanza della Università Ivan Franko la collocano a pieno titolo nel perimetro dell’Alleanza. ‘’Un passo importante verso la pace’’, ha sostenuto Stefancuk, scatenando una lunga e commossa standing ovation tra i partecipanti in aula.
In parallelo al Forum si è svolta la prima EC2U Entrepreneurial Week che ha visto l’incontro tra la comunità EC2U e il mondo dell’imprenditorialità, attraverso sessioni interattive con imprenditori e stakeholder dell’economia circolare e l’evento organizzato dal Comune di Pavia “Cultural Cities Twinning” di cui l’Università di Pavia è partner associato. Quest’ultimo evento ha visto la partecipazione delle 7 Municipalità di EC2U più le due gemellate con Pavia e si è concluso con la firma di un Memorandum di amicizia per continuare a collaborare sul tema della valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale.
Di seguito, la testimonianza degli studenti che hanno partecipato al Forum EC2U:
Sono stati quattro giorni intensi, densi di attività, ma sicuramente arricchenti per noi come persone prima che come studenti. L’evento è iniziato con attività di networking al Castello Visconteo per proseguire il giorno dopo con l’attività sportiva del rafting. Ci ha del tutto sorpreso, è stato più facile e divertente di quanto pensassimo!. Abbiamo poi avuto occasione di entrare in contatto con campioni olimpici e paraolimpici Tokyo 2021, la loro testimonianza ha avuto in noi una risonanza molto forte. Le loro storie parlano di sport ma soprattutto di vita vissuta, raccontano la quotidiana fatica che ogni sfida – sportiva, accademica, storica – inevitabilmente ci chiama ad affrontare.
Nelle giornate seguenti, siamo stati coinvolti in diverse attività, come la preparazione di un podcast, training per diventare ambassador di EC2U, workshop sulle tematiche elettive che governeranno il futuro come l’innovazione, la sostenibilità o l’economia circolare. Interessante è stato organizzare interamente la sessione all’interno del Forum “The voice of students” nella quale abbiamo parlato alla numerosa platea in Aula Magna delle tematiche che vorremmo fossero maggiormente prese in considerazione e presentato le nostre idee progettuali.
La sintesi tra attività ricreative come quelle sportive e la ricchezza dei contenuti destinata a workshop e conferenze ha generato una formula imperdibile, equilibrata a livello trasversale e ad alto impatto formativo, in cui abbiamo potuto sentirci davvero protagonisti.
Crediamo che occasioni come queste, animate dalla strutturale multiculturalità del contesto, siano in grado di abilitare in noi giovani un pensiero diverso, sistemico, ci orientano al futuro mettendoci nelle condizioni di poterlo attivamente costruire e determinare. La prima ottima notizia è che possiamo farlo insieme.

The 4th Forum of the European Alliance for City-Universities (EC2U) ended few days ago, hosted by the University of Pavia, which was attended by heterogeneous realities that have helped to strengthen the ties within the EC2U community and make the organized activities very stimulating, focused on the following themes: sustainability, health and well-being, multilingualism, digital education, microcredentials, research and innovation.
The event involved the governance of the EC2U alliance, Professors, administrative staff and students, project partners of the seven Universities (in particular, STEP ESN Pavia, Polo Tecnologico, Comune di Pavia, CUS, CIMEA) and local associations active in the pavesian area (in particular Plastic Free, UILDM, Coming Aut Community Centre, CSV, Pavia Asti Senegal, OSA, Ayamè, Banca del tempo, Bridgenet/Universitiamo)
At the opening of the forum, the Aula magna was filled with emotions thanks to the contribution of the President of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefancuk, who spoke in video-conference to sanction the entrance into the seven European Universities alliance of the historic Ukrainian University Ivan Franko of Lviv. That was not only a symbolic invitation by the Universities allied to internationalization, because the history and importance of the University Ivan Franko place it fully within the perimeter of the Alliance. The ‘An important step towards peace’ – Stefancuk said – sparking a long and emotional standing ovation among the participants in the classroom.
In parallel to the Forum took place the first EC2U Entrepreneurial Week that saw the meeting between the EC2U community and the world of entrepreneurship through interactive sessions with entrepreneurs and stakeholders of the circular economy and the event organized by the Municipality of Pavia “Cultural Cities Twinning“, associate partner of University of Pavia. This last event saw the participation of the 7 Municipalities of EC2U plus the two twinned with Pavia and ended with the signing of a friendship Memorandum to continue to collaborate on the theme of the enhancement of cultural heritage.

They were four intense days, full of activities, but certainly enriching for us as people before as students. The event began with networking activities at Castello Visconteo to continue the next day with the rafting activity. We must admit that many of us were a bit thoughtful about it, we had never practiced it before: actually it completely surprised us, it was easier and more fun than we thought! We then had the opportunity to get in touch with Olympic and Paralympic champions Tokyo 2021, their testimony had a very strong resonance in us. Their stories talk about sport but above they are about real life, tell the daily fatigue that every challenge – sporting, academic, historical – inevitably calls us to face.
In the following days, we were involved in several activities, such as the preparation of a podcast, training to become EC2U ambassador, workshops on foundamental issues that will dominate the future such as innovation, sustainability or the circular economy. It was interesting to organize the entire session within the Forum “The voice of students” in which we spoke to the large audience in the Aula Magna about the issues we would like to be taken into account and presented our own ideas.
The synthesis between recreational activities such as sports and the richness of the content in workshops and conferences generated a unique formula, balanced between transversal skills benefits and a high educational impact, in which we could really feel ourselves as protagonists.
We strongly believe that occasions like these, animated by the structural multiculturality of the context, enable us young people to think differently, systemically and orient us to the future, putting us in the position to be able to actively build it. The first great news is that we can do it together.
