La resistenza agli antibiotici è un noto problema clinico destinato ad aumentare significativamente nei prossimi decenni. Dalla scoperta al rilascio sul mercato di nuove classi di antibatterici è un processo estremamente più lento rispetto all’insorgere di ceppi resistenti.
Nuove strategie terapeutiche si rivelano necessarie per integrare il trattamento antibiotico. Gli anticorpi monoclonali rappresentano uno strumento efficace per il cancro e le terapie di malattie autoimmuni; potrebbero avere lo stesso potenziale per le malattie infettive?

Antibiotics resistance is a clear clinical problem set to markedly increase in the next decades. Time from discovery to the market release of new classes of antibacterials is extremely slower than the onset of resistant strains. New therapeutic strategies are needed to complement antibiotic treatment.
Monoclonal antibodies represent a great tool for cancer and autoimmune diseases therapies. Hold they the same potential for infectious diseases?
