(English below – UNIPV at the 7th European Migration Forum: Youth inclusion: key to successful migrant integration) Dal 20 al 21 ottobre 2022 si è svolto il 7° incontro dell’European Migration Forum (EMF), dal titolo “Youth inclusion: key to successful migrant integration”, incentrato sul tema dell’inclusione giovanile.
Lo European Migration Forum (EMF) è un incontro ideato dalla Commissione Europea e dal Comitato Economico e Sociale Europeo (EESC) che mette in contatto rappresentanti della società civile e delle istituzioni europee per discutere sul tema dell’immigrazione. Nasce come spazio di dialogo per confrontarsi sull’efficacia e sui limiti delle politiche migratorie europee e sul loro effetto nel territorio europeo a livello locale e internazionale prevedendo un coinvolgimento attivo degli attori sociali che operano sul campo.
Il focus di quest’anno è stato l’inclusione giovanile e i temi trattati sono stati:
- accesso all’educazione;
- mobilità giovanile per giovani migranti;
- integrazione sociale e culturale;
- efficacia e limiti delle politiche europee attuali.
Considerato il ruolo dell’istruzione nel favorire l’integrazione e inclusione dei giovani migranti, l’Università di Pavia ha attivamente partecipato alle due giornate di lavoro. Giulia Falchi, coordinatrice locale dell’alleanza europea EC2U ed esperta di progettazione europea sul tema Inclusion&Diversity presso l’ufficio GLOBEC dell’Università di Pavia, ha rappresentato l’Ateneo pavese evidenziando nelle varie tavole rotonde quanto fatto finora e gli ostacoli incontrati.
“Partecipare al Forum è stata un’esperienza di alto valore formativo e grande opportunità di networking con realtà che ogni giorno lavorano per favorire l’integrazione ed inclusione di migranti. Al Workshop 1 – Young migrants’ access to education and training, vi è stato un dialogo costruttivo tra scuole di diversi ordini e gradi, Università, ONG ed istituzioni europee su come favorire l’accesso all’istruzione e sostenere lo studente durante il suo percorso di studio. L’Università gioca un ruolo importante come fattore di aggregazione sociale e luogo di formazione al fine di ridurre disuguaglianze e pregiudizi e raggiungere l’obiettivo dell’#UNSDG4”
Scopo dell’EMF è quello di favorire la diffusione e la disseminazione dei temi trattati durante il forum e favorire la partecipazione attiva delle associazioni e organizzazioni locali, nazionali ed europee. UNIPV at the 7th European Migration Forum
Youth inclusion: key to successful migrant integration
From the 20th to the 21th October took place the 7th edition of the European Migration Forum (EMF), titled “Youth inclusion: key to successful migrant integration”, it was centered on the integration of young people.
The EMF was created by the European Commission in association with the European Economics Social Committee (EESC) which has the aim to foster communication between European social institution representatives and cvil society organisations to allow them to discuss about immigration related topics. It was born as a place to exchanges about the efficacy of various migratory politics and their effects on European territory, both at a local and international level and to involve social organizations that work in this field.
This year the EMF was focused on youth inclusion and particularly on:
- Education access;
- Mobility for young migrants;
- Social and cultural integration;
- Actual politics efficacy and limitation.
Considering the role of institutions in facilitating young migrant inclusion, the University of Pavia actively participated in the two working days. Giulia Falchi, local coordinator of the EC2U alliance and leading expert on Inclusion&Diversity of the GLOBEC office of the University of Pavia, was elected as representative and showed to the other participants the achievements and difficulties encountered by our university.
“Take an active role at the Forum has been an high formative experience and an opportunity to create a network with realities that everyday try to favor migrant integration and inclusion. During the “Workshop 1 – young migrants’ access to education and training”, schools, universities, NGOs and European institutions discussed how to improve access and support to migrants during their whole education period. Universities play a central role as a social place for interaction, reduction of inequalities and bias in order to achieve #UNSDG4 goals.”
Large scale dissemination of its main themes is another central goal of the European Migration Forum in order to favor active participation of local associations and organizations, but also promote participations of national governments and institutions.
