(English below)

From the University of Florida to Pavia – the first Summer School in Physics since COVID-19

A group of ten students from the University of Florida arrived in Pavia on June 14th to attend an Intensive Program in Physics organized by the GLOBEC of the University of Pavia, the Foundation Alma Mater Ticinensis and Learn International. The students will reside in Palazzo Vistarino, home to the international courses that the Foundation co-organizes and manages with the University.

The Intensive Program in Physics is the first international residential program launched by the University after the shutdown imposed by the pandemic. And it is also the first course that American students will follow in person since their enrollment at the university, they have always only attended online courses. The Summer School in Physics is also one of the very few summer programs started by the University of Florida in this period.

The UF engineering students are staying in Pavia for eight weeks – from June 14 to August 8. They will attend Physics classes and laboratories with professors Rebuzzi, Andreani, Marabelli and Liscidini – at the Pavia Physics Department “A.Volta”, as well as Engineering and Arts lessons at Palazzo Vistarino with their professor Joel Parker. The students will visit the city monuments, museums and scientific structures of the University and campus, e.g., Lena and Cnao. And they will not miss the opportunity to travel to art cities of Italy, such as Florence and Rome – a dive into beauty and culture.
