L’Università degli Studi di Pavia in collaborazione con lo Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC), organizza dal 13 al 17 luglio 2020 una summer school dedicata al monitoraggio degli invertebrati marini alieni in ambiente portuale. (English below)
Docenti UniPV e SERC presenteranno la tecnica di monitoraggio sviluppata negli USA e applicata da più di vent’anni lungo le coste atlantiche e pacifiche americane. Il corso prevede momenti di didattica frontale, esercitazioni in campo (Golfo di La Spezia) e attività di laboratorio (identificazione dei gruppi tassonomici ed elaborazione dei dati).
Il corso verrà tenuto in lingua inglese presso l’orto botanico di Pavia. Il costo di iscrizione include il materiale didattico, pranzi e coffee break e l’escursione a La Spezia.

The University of Pavia and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (USA) offer a Summer School in Monitoring Marine Alien Species in Ports with SERC protocol‘ from July 13 to 17, 2020.
The school is open to professional figures, public/private employees, researchers, master/PhD students with a marine biology background and/or involved in marine bioinvasion monitoring.
Participants will be instructed to monitor ports using the method conceived and successfully applied for over 25 years in the United States by the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center.
Furthermore, experts of different taxonomic groups will provide lectures and laboratory activities on the identification of the most common fouling species of port habitats, with a special focus on cryptogenic and alien invertebrate species.
The School will take place in Pavia on the premises of the local Botanic Garden.
