On Friday, the 6th of April, 2018, in honour of World Fitness Day, the University of Pavia will set up 6 posts around campus, from Strada Nuova to Via Ferrata, with different training exercises, open to all students and the academic community free of charge. Under the motto Be Active Everyday! professors and physical education specialists will supervise a range of exercises and classes, from 10am to 5pm, from resistance conditioning to running, from stretching to functional tests, right up to mini football tournaments at Golgi College.   

«The aim of this event is to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst the university population, in line with the directives of the World Health Organisation» Professor Cristina Montomoli, the Dean’s sports representative, explains, «and therefore to highlight the link between physical activity, health and wellbeing with enthusiasm, but also to unite students, teaching staff, and technical/administrative staff through a day of fun and sports.»

THE Be Active Everyday! MAP

– Cortile delle Statue (Statue Court) → Fitness, “Golgi – Panizza workout”: all day, 2 strength conditioning courses, one with and one without equipment, team competition format. The first course will begin at 10.30am and will be repeated every hour.

– Cortile delle Magnolie (Magnolia Court) → Cardio, “Feed your fitness”: Magnolia Court will become the meeting point for groups of trekkers and runners (each route lasts around 40 minutes). 10.30am and 3pm are the start times for the trek towards Lungo Ticino; 12.30pm and 4.15pm are the start times for the run towards Certosa di Pavia.

– Palazzo San Felice (San Felice Building) → Stretching and posture, “It’s best if you stay in shape”: the Economics Department on Via S. Felice, 5 will be transformed into an outdoor gym where it will be possible to take part in correct-posture training, each course lasts around 20 minutes. There will be sessions at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

– Cravino → Functional tests, “You need an amazing physique”: in the courtyard of the Physics Department on Via Bassi, 6 it will be possible to undertake a series of tests with the aim of assessing your own functional capabilities, from strength to aerobic capacity, from joint flexibility to balance. At 10.30am and at 2pm it will be possible to measure your own strength; at 11.30am and 3pm resistance; at 12.30pm and at 4pm flexibility and balance.

– Nave (The Ship) → Fun & wellness, “Plan your health”: at the Engineering Department in Via Ferrata recreational activities will be organised along with ball games and minor circuit training activities. Functional training sessions (which last around 30 minutes) will be at 10.30am, 11.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm. Recreational games (lasting around 20 minutes) will be organised at the end of each functional training session at 11am, 12pm, 2.45pm and 4pm.

– Collegio Golgi (Golgi College) → Football, “The big challenge”: at Golgi College’s football pitch in Via Aselli, 43 mini 11-a-side football tournaments will be organised throughout the day. The schedule will become available at a later date.
