(English below – BENETIF-Med KICK-OFF MEETING from 29 May to 1 June 2022) Dal 29 maggio al 1° giugno 2022 si svolgerà presso il Dipartimento di Biologia e Biotecnologie L. Spallanzani il kick-off meeting del progetto europeo BENEFIT-Med, Boosting technologies of orphan legumes towards resilient farming systems in the Greater Mediterranean Region: from bench to open field.

BENETIF-Med KICK-OFF MEETING from 29 May to 1 June 2022

The kick-off meeting of the European project “BENEFIT-Med, Boosting technologies of orphan legumes towards resilient farming systems in the Greater Mediterranean Region: from bench to open field”, will take place at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology L. Spallanzani from 29 May to 1 June 2022.

The project is coordinated by Prof. Alma Balestrazzi, head of the Seed Molecular Physiology Laboratory of the Department of Biology and Biotechnology L. Spallanzani and includes 10 academic and industrial partners from different European countries (France, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria)

BENEFIT-Med is a PRIMA project (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area), a Euro-Mediterranean action that promotes sustainable agricultural practices to improve biodiversity and combat the negative effects of climate change.

The general objective of the project is the improvement of the seed germination protocols of neglected (little commercialized) legume species, typical of North Africa and the Mediterranean basin. The goal of the project is to enhance their nutritional properties and promote local systems of sustainable agriculture, resilient to climate change.
